An amusing illustrative talk by Melanie King, well-known local writer and social historian. Discover how the introduction of these exotic beverages in the mid 17th century caused anxiety and debate, including pregnant mothers fearing their babies would turn brown if they drank too much chocolate. There was no doubt, however, that the arrival of these beverages changed the drinking habits of the English forever.
