A Tapestry of Flavours: Ukrainian Cuisine - Traditions and Popular Dishes

[Rescheduled from February date which had been cancelled due to illness]

24 February 2024 marked the second anniversary of Russia's full scale invasion of Ukraine. Since then, Oxford has welcomed many people escaping the war into its communities. We are proud to present this special event celebrating the cultural heritage of our Ukrainian neighbours who have become part of our communities, as part of our mission to celebrate and preserve the heritage of all of Oxford's people.

Join us at the Museum of Oxford for a talk by Dr Nadiya Ivanenko, who will take you on a journey into the heart of Ukrainian cuisine. Immerse yourself in the rich traditions and vibrant flavors, from the hearty borscht to the delectable varenyky.

You'll discover why food is an important part of the Ukrainian cultural heritage, and how various dishes embody Ukrainian customs and traditions from all around this multi-cultural country which encompasses many landscapes and climates.

There may be some Ukrainian food to try (tbc).

This event is part of the exhibition programming for Oxford Digs In: our food stories, a special photographic exhibition at the Museum of Oxford, on display now.
