Join us for an exciting evening of exploring the rich traditions of foraging in Oxford and beyond. Learn about the diverse plant life that can be found in your local area and how to harvest and use these nature's treasures.

With three experienced foragers on the panel, each bringing a different perspective on foraging practices, this will be a unique opportunity to hear about foraging in Oxford as well as other places around the world.

Speakers are:

Dot Tiwari has been learning about plant and foraging the seasons in Oxford in varying amounts for the past decade, and creating spaces to share skills around sustainably and safely foraging plants and fruit, and looking after trees through the project Abundance Oxford.

Ebony Gheorghe has an academic background in geology and environmental sciences, which naturally informed her love for wild resources, herbalism, and plants. She is an author and runs her own business, selling balms, hair oils, and foraging products. She also offers foraging workshops for children and adults.

Mai Thandiwe (Florence) is a local resident who has substantial experience with foraging in Oxford as well as the village of Mazviwha in Zimbabwe.

The panel will be chaired by JC Niala, allotment historian who explores human-nature dynamics through writing and podcasts. Her latest essay 'Old Boys and Hidden Women' features in 'This Allotment,' releasing June 6, 2024. JC is a trustee of the Museum of Oxford Development Trust.

The event will take place on Wednesday 20 March 2024 at 5:30pm at the Museum of Oxford.
