Life Drawing Classes
A life drawing is a drawing of the human figure, traditionally nude, from observation of a live model. Creating life drawings, or life studies, in a life class, has been a large element in the traditional training of artists in the Western world since the Renaissance.

The human figure has been the subject of drawings since prehistoric times!

Learning to look, see and draw the human figure from life is a very special and enjoyable activity and its popularity has gained much momentum since the pandemic. Reconnecting safely and intimately with our fellow human beings can heal and nurture our souls and has been well-documented as providing great health benefits to our wellbeing in these times of heightened stress and uncertainty.

Drawing the human form in a group with others, manifests many fascinating insights, is a great way of improving our observational drawing skills .....and ......is a lot of fun!

Life drawing classes run by Neocartouche offer a mindful and supportive drawing portal to a world free from the stresses and strains of the everyday. Starting with interesting and helpful exercises to warm up both model and drawing artists, the first part of the class will settle us into the creative flow. After a short break, a selection of medium-length poses will be offered where you will be left to concentrate on allowing the figure to emerge in front of you using your own techniques, skills and judgement as we focus on observation and translation from three dimensions into two.

Individual tutoring will be available throughout the class for those who would prefer more guidance and/or support, but it will be entirely optional and flexible. Observational drawing skills such as line, shape, form, measurement & perspective, negative space, contours, gesture along with somatic and dramatic techniques can all be explained and demonstrated to help you capture the essence of our talented professional life models.

Join us, 2pm - 4pm , as we explore the art of life drawing in the recently refurbished Blewbury Clubhouse on Boham's Road.

This event is suitable for anyone who is interested in drawing from life in a fun, friendly and supportive environment.

All materials, paper, easels and drawing boards are provided. All you need to do is turn up!
