To wrap up our programme of events exploring the history of river bathing in Oxford, we will be showing three short films highlighting different themes behind wild swimming in our city. After the screening, we will be joined by the directors for a panel discussion.

Complimentary refreshments (tea, soft drinks and wine) will be served.

Films

"Fifty-Four Days", written and directed by Catherine Joy White follows the story of a young woman who turns to wild swimming in search of answers following a sudden bereavment.
"A Good Place to Be" by Reuben Wollridge is a short film exploring the health benefits of cold water.
"River Dance" by Helen Edwards and Madhu Abuzar brings together human and ecological stories for the River Thames (UK) and River Ravi (Pakistan).

Speakers

Catherine Joy White is a writer, actor, filmmaker, founder of Kusini Productions and gender advisor to the United Nations.
Helen Edwards has lived in Oxford for over 30 years. Originally from the North of England, she has swum outdoors all her life and for the past seven years daily, mostly in the River Thames. Her work as an artist and arts psychotherapist is deeply connected with earth and ecology.
Reuben Worllege is an award winning photographer and film maker based in Oxford. He recently received a BA (Hons) in photography and is now working as a commercial photographer. Reuben’s work expresses the nuances of seeing by capturing daily life and reflects on themes such as health and well-being.
George Townsend (chairing) is a historian and curator specialising in the cultural history of outdoor bathing, with a particular focus on Parson's Pleasure.
