Exploring the materials used in his practice, Claye Bowler will explain his process of using alginate and plaster guiding you to make small casts.

Casts made in the workshop will be small, rather than full body. Body parts such as hands may be cast, but there is no requirement to undress or to cast from a body.

Techniques will cover how to cast small objects, such as rocks, bottles, or a carabiner.

Attending this workshop
Please bring something to cast – this could be a small object, or you could use your body.

All materials and safety equipment will be provided.

No molding, casting or sculptural experience needed.

About Claye
Claye Bowler is an artist based in the UK. His practice centres on the theme of archives – looking at the political priorities of historical and current collecting, exploring the body as an archive, and envisioning alternative forms of archiving. Bowler uses sculptural practices to ‘collect’ and ‘display’ queer history; subverting how queer and trans narratives have been perpetually hidden, erased or destroyed.
