Human Story Theatre presents a staged reading of new black comedy: Lizzie On The Fence by Amanda Mackenzie Stuart.

Lizzie and Bill have been married for forty years. When he moves in to a care home, Lizzie visits him for hours each day. Until 23 March 2020, that is. However, Lizzie is not easily deterred. She finds a way of secretly seeing Bill through his care home fence, until a series of encounters mean that all gloves come off …

A black comedy about locked down love that draws on the writer’s own experience and that of many others, Lizzie On The Fence had a debut triumphant rehearsed reading at Edinburgh Fringe in August 2023 and is now playing its part in the campaign for Anne’s Law in Scotland, which gives care home residents the right to a named visitor for future pandemics.
