When? Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 October, 11-4pm, with a coffee and lunch break

What? A two day workshop with two approaches to portrait painting, designed to unlock your artistic potential through practical guidance from two experienced artists.

Each day starts with a talk from the artist before a painting demo for students to watch. In the afternoon students have the opportunity to practise skills/techniques taught in the morning through painting their own piece with guidance from the tutor.

Saturday: Robin will introduce basic colour theory through the Zorn palette, paint mixing and application, and basic structural components for drawing and painting the head. Working from photographs, we will focus on value to render our subjects in a dimensional and realistic way.

Sunday: Building on Robin’s practical advice, Lucy will share her experience of study in the Sight Size method in Florence in the Atelier tradition, using a live model, and explore ways in which this can be developed to express each artist’s own vision.

Who? All welcome; no experience necessary; age 16+ (under 18s should attend with an adult). Max group size: 12.
