Julie July Band – Folk Rock Experience 2023 Tour

Due to unforeseen circumstances the Julie July Band have had to pull out of their gig at Tiddy Hall, Ascott-u-Wychwood on September 2nd. Julie took a tumble whilst filming a music video in Spain and has damaged her knee.

The Julie July Band make their debut appearance at Wychwood Folk Club to perform their critically acclaimed Folk-Rock Albums, ‘Wonderland’ and ‘Lady of the First Light’. The band built their substantial reputation with reinterpretations and arrangements of the work of singer-songwriter Sandy Denny and perform their ‘Sandy Denny Experience Show’ across the UK. Inspired by Sandy’s work and the wider folk, rock and blues movements of the Sixties and Seventies, the band presents songs ranging from dreamy acoustic folk to driving progressive folk rock. With shared writing duties and excellent musicianship, both lyrically and instrumentally these folks know how to create an atmosphere and they’re clearly gifted storytellers.
Band members: Julie July (Vocals), Steve Rezillo (Guitarist, vocals), Dik Cadbury (Bass, Vocals), Carol Lee Sampson (Keyboards, Vocals), Caley Groves (Acoustic Guitar) and Mick Candler (Drums).
“The new album is a veritable feast of riches within the folk-rock genre. Songs are fully formed works of art delivered with a confidence and clarity which only years of ensemble playing produce. The development and growth of the band has been both heartening and momentous” John O’Regan Journalist & Broadcaster - fRoots, Living Tradition, LCCR.
“Julie’s vocals are so clear and pure and beautifully sung and everything that backs her is entwined in a melodic entangled delight. There are influences from members of the band and it becomes obvious who has penned which track. Steve Rezillo written numbers hold lead breaks that take you away and hold you suspended before Julie comes in again with the lyrical voice of a lark in flight”- Vince (Fan)
