Venue, Timing and Cost

Venue:
OVADA
Date(s):
Saturday, 17 June 2023 to Sunday, 18 June 2023
Timing:
10-4pm
Cost:
£150 for 2 days (Pay Less and Pay it Forward options available)

When? Saturday 17th and Sunday 18th June, 10-4pm

What? An exciting and dynamic 2 day course exploring working from flowers; cultivated, wild and weed. Over the course of the weekend, we will experiment with drawing from physical feel, from memory as well as from observation.

Far from a traditional still life set up, flowers will be our portal into a sensual and media pushing journey. Expect immersive drawing exercises from large, human-sized works on rolls of lining paper with charcoal, rags and ink, to tiny scattered marks using pointillist water based crayons inspired by touching the flowers with eyes closed.

A wide variety of media and papers will allow attendees to really play with their marks in a supportive and inspiring setting. Have you ever drawn the taste of a rose petal? Imagined how the inside of a bud might look and feel ? We’re excited to bring this workshop to OVADA for the very first time.

Who? All welcome; no experience necessary; age 16+ (under 18s should attend with an adult). Max group size: 8

How? Purchase at www.ovada.org.uk/art-classes-at-ovada | Standard Cost: £150 / Pay Less: £120 / Pay more: £180

If your preferred ticket type is fully booked, please contact engagement@ovada.org.uk for help.

Materials: Please bring a range of dry drawing materials (pencils, graphite, charcoal, pastels); wet drawing materials (different coloured water based inks, water soluble pencils, watercolour); a selection of papers (some available to buy on the day); a roll of lining paper (cheap from a DIY store); masking tape and bulldog clips.
