Venue, Timing and Cost
This course is specifically designed for young people aged between 14 and 18. The classes will be taught independent of any curriculum boundaries and will focus on how the individual approaches, interprets and responds to the environment we live in. The class will have a maximum of 10 students who will participate in group, peer, and one-to-one learning.
The classes will encourage independence of thought and personal creative choices through studying the fundamentals of art and design. Students will explore materials and media, scale, mark making, colour, tone and composition in drawing, painting, printmaking and three-dimensional work.
Individual characteristics that emerge through study will be developed and enhanced as the course progresses.
The tutor is Charlotte Houlihan who is a professional practicing artist. Please visit our website www.artschool.org.uk to read her biography. From time to time there will also be the opportunity for visiting tutors with different specialisms to have input into the class. The classes will be centred around practice with historical and contextual references where appropriate.
Our aim is to provide our young people with a broader vision, an art school environment and a portfolio of work that showcases their creative choices, demonstrates their curiosity and reflects their enjoyment of art and design.
Enrolment is on a term by term basis. Students can hold their place for as long as they wish (up to the age of 18)
