Come and join this webinar which provides a timely opportunity to explore creative arts in hospitals and, in particular, programmes for older people.

Nearly two thirds of the people admitted into hospital are over 65 years old. An increasing number have complex care needs especially patients with dementia who more likely to experience delayed transfers of care and have poorer outcomes than their older peers. Hospital arts programmes aim to improve patient health and wellbeing complementing nursing care by activating older patients through a range of creative arts and activities; some are also involved in improving the design of the built environment to enhance the quality of care for patients, staff and visitors.

The webinar offers you an important opportunity to:
 Learn about the work of arts organisations in Oxfordshire hospitals and proven benefits for older patients and staff
 Discover how Oxfordshire hospital arts organisations adapted their programmes during the COVID 19 pandemic when most visitors were embargoed
 Share and exchange best practice of arts in hospital, identifying challenges and hearing about strategies programmes use to address obstacles and problems
• Inform the content of a chapter about arts and hospital in Arts and Dementia: A Handbook of Good Practice. Co-edited by Maria Pasiecznik Parsons & Dr Richard Coaten, the book will be
published by Jessica Kingsley Press
The webinar will be led by
 Ruth Charity, Arts Coordinator, artlink, the arts and music programme for Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, funded by Oxford Hospitals Charity
 Angela Conlan, Arts Coordinator, Oxford Health Arts Partnership, Oxford Health NHS FT, supported by Oxford Health Charity
 Paula Har, Senior Practitioner Safeguarding Adults, Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust
