Critical Thinking for Artists is about re-evaluating the approach and execution of your art practice. Discussing the boundaries of what art is, does, and can be, the course will be lead through open crits and art making processes. Using art making as a central lens to the navigation of this course, students at the end will be exhibiting the conclusive ideas within a group show. The process of this course is set out to expose students to the full spectrum of the artistic experience surrounding the creation of their practice. This journey will be beneficial to any artist who wishes to step outside of their vision, to then look back in with a new frame of mind.
Over this course students will focus on a separate themes of artistic practice that encompasses a review of what the pillars to art are. Week by week, students will be asked to explore one of the following: expression of media, research processes, consideration of the viewer, the critique, the exhibition space, and the course will then culminate in an exhibition curated by themselves.
