Textiles in Oxford (TIO) is a lively group interested in all aspects of textile media, from the latest contemporary artists and trends to the more traditional techniques and historical sources. We meet monthly to enjoy a talk by a practicing textile artist or knowledgeable expert. We enjoy exchanging ideas and chatting with our tea and cake! Come and meet us, hear the talk or decide to join our group, you'd be made very welcome!

Mary Quant and her Early Life is a talk by Ruth Lowe covering the early career and designs complete with original clothing, memorabilia, etc. Ruth is passionate about her subject and additionally supports her talk with her extensive range/collection of Mary Quant clothes and memorabilia for 'real-feel' interest and demonstration. She also has a Mini-car that has won numerous trophies and been featured in TV programmes several times, though we might not be outside viewing that in December!

This talk is about an hour in length, with opportunities to ask questions at the end too. It is a Powerpoint presentation and includes many illustrations of Mary Quant’s life and work. Ruth will also have examples of Mary Quant's work to handle/view.
