Textiles in Oxford (TIO) is a lively group interested in all aspects of textile media, from the latest contemporary artists and trends to the more traditional techniques and historical sources. We meet monthly to enjoy a talk by a practicing textile artist or knowledgeable expert. We enjoy exchanging ideas and chatting with our tea and cake! Come and meet us, hear the talk or decide to join our group, you'd be made very welcome!

Sue Crook is a Basingstoke (UK) based textile artist working in art textiles, using mainly sustainable, environmentally friendly materials. Her practice includes experimentation in hand-dyeing, (natural and Procion dyes) screen printing, stitched sketches (hand and free machine embroidery). Her talk will introduce us to how she became involved with and developed her textile career. Her title gives a clue to the unusual way she embarked on her textile journey!

This talk is about an hour in length, with opportunities to ask questions at the end too. It is a Powerpoint presentation with many illustrations of Sue’s work. Sue will have examples of her work to handle/view.
