Textiles in Oxford (TIO) is a lively group interested in all aspects of textile media, from the latest contemporary artists and trends to the more traditional techniques and historical sources. We meet monthly to enjoy a talk by a practicing textile artist or knowledgeable expert. We enjoy exchanging ideas and chatting with our tea and cake! Come and meet us, hear the talk or decide to join our group, you'd be made very welcome!

Make a bird applique picture in a day with Kate Findlay. Finished size approx 30cm.

This highly creative and individual workshop allows each person to work on their own ideas with guidance from Kate

We will consider design, composition and colour. Using bondaweb, we will be cutting fabric shapes and ironing them down as raw edge appliqué. The composition can then be finished with hand or machine sewing as preferred. Bird templates will be provided, or you can draw your own. Ideas for settings will be given, including simple landscapes, or flowers/branches/garden ornaments to provide the setting for your bird.

Kate will demonstrate the use of fusible web, composition, and free motion stitching.
