Robb Johnson is widely recognised as one of the UK’s finest songwriters. Called “an English original” (Robin Denselow, the Guardian), “one of our best singer-songwriters ever” (Mike Harding), and a “renowned folk-punk” (Time Out), Robb gigs regularly in the UK, Belgium, Germany & the USA. His songs are covered by many singers, from folk legend Roy Bailey to cabaret diva Barb Jungr, both of whom appeared on the 2013 re-recording of Robb’s highly regarded Gentle Men, a family history song suite about the First World War & its consequences.

In 2016, PM Press in the US released A Reasonable History of Impossible Demands, a 5 CD career-retrospective, to widespread critical acclaim – reviewing it, the magazine fROOTS said Robb is “one of this country’s most important songwriters (no argument!)”. In September My Best Regards, was released, again to widespread critical acclaim, with some reviewers suggesting it was his best album to date. 2017 saw the release of Songs From the Last Seven Years, a collection of unreleased songs chronicling events since the election of the ConDem government in 2010.

In November 2018 Robb released Ordinary Giants, a 3 CD song suite based on his father’s life & times, to unanimous critical acclaim: “a masterwork” – fROOTS….“a stunning album… Robb Johnson is a national treasure”– Northern Sky…“a positively monumental piece of work… epic… reflecting the very best of one of our foremost songwriters.”– FATEA

At the start of the year, Robb released two different albums – one on vinyl (9 tracks, voice & guitar), one on CD (thirteen tracks with the full band Irregulars) – called Eurotopia. Again, reviews have been highly enthusiastic. In September Robb releases Pandemic Songs, 14 songs that record the experience of the first six months of Covid19. An early review by FATEA says “This release should be viewed as an important historical document, a classic in waiting”.

This event will be held live on Zoom with a remote sound engineer for professional-quality sound.
