Chekhov’s celebrated masterpiece receives an incisive 21st-century spin by Olivier-award winning playwright, Simon Stephens. Drawing you into a multi-layered world of façade where writers, actors, illusion and disillusion reign supreme, the students at the Oxford School of Drama invite you to examine this lauded text in a brand new light.
Placing the actors’ process at the centre of this production, The Seagull is a play that documents life and human frailty, human hope, love and expectation. It is an investigation into the human condition.
This is a great opportunity to see emerging talent from one of the UK’s top drama schools. Graduates of this course include the Golden Globe and Screen Actors Guild Award winner Claire Foy; BAFTA nominee Babou Ceesay; Eastern Eye Best Actress Award winner Kiran Sonia Sawar and Edinburgh Comedy Award winner Richard Gadd.
