Exploring the Chalk Streams of the Chilterns with Doug Kennedy

Chalk streams are a globally rare phenomenon, the majority of which occur in England but they have been getting shorter and more intermittent over the past half century. This fascinating illustrated talk describes the streams and explains the causes of the problem and what is being done about it.
The speaker, Doug Kennedy has a life-long passion for landscape and nature, possessing first and master’s degrees in biological and environmental studies. In recent years he has produced photo-books of the Chilterns, Thame Valley, and English regions. He has headed up three major environmental projects since 2000, including Save The River Thame. His current campaign is to restore the Chiltern chalk streams. Some of his books will be available at the talk to purchase. For more information visit www.thamemuseum.org
