First-ever saxophonist to reach the final of BBC Young Musician, first ever saxophonist to sign with Decca Classics, a presenter at BBC Proms 2019 and host of her own show on BBC Radio 3 – Jess Gillam truly is irrepressible. And she is only twenty-one years old.

Along with show-stealing BBC Proms performances, Jess has appeared at the BAFTAS and picked up a Classical Brit Award. Concert and festival engagements have taken her all over the UK and her international career is growing fast with 2019 performances in Barcelona, Bodrum, Lucerne Festival, with Radio France Philharmonic Orchestra in Paris and her debut in the USA with concerts in New York, Minneapolis and at the prestigious Phillips Collection, Washington D.C.

‘Rise’ Jess’s first recording with Decca was released on 26 April 2019 and instantly took the No.1 spot in the classical charts. Another first for Jess, the youngest saxophonist to achieve this fame.

Tonight Jess is joined by the talented pianist James Baillieu, their programme an exciting mix of new work and some of Jess’s ‘signature’ pieces. When Jess last appeared at SJE Arts, the concert was a sell-out so please book early to avoid disappointment.
