Venue, Timing and Cost
Following the sudden cancellation of Fresh Work in 2020, Elaine Kazimierczuk is delighted to present re-Fresh, taking advantage of the light and space at the North Wall to present a major exhibition showcasing several large dramatic works.
Since establishing a studio in Oxford in 2016, Elaine has rapidly won admiration for her original paintings. Her semi-abstract interpretations of wildflower meadows, woodland and hedgerows teem with plant life and clearly convey her lifelong love of the natural environment. Using bold colour and her own highly distinctive vocabulary of rhythmic mark-making and stylised motifs, she combines elements of landscape with painterly abstraction, interweaving direct observation with imagination, to create works that are at the same time restful and uplifting. Elaine’s work conveys the essence of a place, immersing us in the radiant beauty of the landscape evoking the vitality of the natural world.
Several pieces are based on wild flower meadows maintained by the charity Plantlife, which carries out invaluable work to save endangered plant species and their habitats. Elaine would like her work to encourage others to make an emotional connection, as she does, to these precious places, one which inspires us to value and protect the natural world.
‘Every time a piece leaves my studio it’s an ambassador for nature, a little campaign for the environment’.
