Julia Hollander (mezzo soprano) was brought up in Old Marston. Having always loved singing, she became a choral scholar at Cambridge University and later continued her vocal studies at the Guildhall in London. When she left Uni she became an opera director, based at English National Opera, freelancing all over the world. After the birth of her first child in 1999, she gradually altered her work to writing, coaching and teaching, honing her pedagogical abilities with Janice Chapman and Jenevora Williams.

Julia has sung with numerous professional choirs in London and Oxford, whilst gradually expanding her solo repertoire in both Jazz and Classical music. In recent years, she has focussed particularly on Art song and oratorio, working with some of the UK’s greatest exponents including Ann Murray, Sue Bullock, John Mark Ainsley, and Malcolm Martineau.
