The acclaimed Swedish pianist Martin Sturfält performs the magnificent, colourful ‘Northern Lights’ sonata by the Estonian composer Eduard Tubin, inspired by the mythical and magical notions attributed in Sami culture to the Aurora Borealis. He also performs two works by Franz Liszt, inspired by Lenau’s Faust: ‘Der nächtliche Zug’ (‘The night-time procession’) and the famous Mephisto Waltz no.1.
