For the penultimate talk of Sound I’m Particular, Tullis Rennie will be bringing Muscle Memory to the Old Fire Station.

Muscle Memory is a new record by composer Tullis Rennie – two recently composed sound pieces made in collaboration with Matthew Bourne and Graham South. The record is part autobiographic docu-music, part jazz-inspired dreamscape. Muscle Memory is Tullis's invitation to join him in the act of listening to listening. Listening as an event. Tullis Rennie is a composer, improvising trombonist, electronic musician, and field recordist. His work encompasses sound installation, community-engaged participative projects, multi-channel concert works, video, mixed media and live/improvised performances. He is co-founder of Walls On Walls with visual artist Laurie Nouchka, and a member of the Insectotròpics audio-visual collective, based in Barcelona. He recently began the multi.modal label with Claudia Molitor. His work has been presented at concerts and festivals across 15 countries, alongside national broadcasts on BBC Radio 3 and ResonanceFM. Sound I’m Particular is a Pay What You Decide talk series that aims to provide a forum to discuss and interrogate listening as both subject and object, exploring the various guises of contemporary listening practices with talks and demonstrations by artists and academics from all over the country; ranging from topics such as augury and Nan Shepherd, to Gertrude Stein and Virginia Woolf, to field recording and Twin Peaks.

All are welcome and no previous knowledge of the subjects is necessary.
