Bohun Gallery is delighted to have been given the rare opportunity to select work from Eric Rimmington’s Studio for the 2018 exhibition. Working with the artist, Bohun have curated a major exhibition which features not only recent paintings, but also a wide selection of his finest work from the last four decades, never previously seen. For collectors, this show offers the unique prospect of acquiring some of the finest and most significant examples of Eric Rimmington’s work.

Over the three decades since he decided to concentrate his studio work on painting ‘found objects’ Eric Rimmington has put his personal stamp on the art of still life. His canvases, in contrast to the still life tradition, are peopled by objects he has picked up – discovered on a beach, retrieved from the pavement, spotted in a charity shop or on the stalls of his local market. The grandest of his compositions is built from the discarded, undistinguished or misshapen.

In ‘The Dark Wall’, as homage to the masters of the Dutch Golden Age, he places a green enamel jug on a table covered with a floral patterned remnant and fills it with bindweed and oxeye daisies. As his own bravura touch he lights a wax candle on another, white-draped, table behind it.

Described by the critic William Packer as ' one of the country's most distinguished exponents in the field of still life’, Rimmington richly deserves his place amongst Britain’s most celebrated contemporary still life artists. Rimmington has exhibited regularly at the Bohun Gallery since 2001, following 18 years of exhibiting in London. His work can be seen in public collections across the country and in 2006 he was awarded the ING Discerning Eye Purchase Prize.

His paintings continue to bring wonder and awe amongst viewers. This, his eleventh solo show with Bohun Gallery, examines the very major contribution this artist continues to make to the development of still life painting and offers collectors the opportunity to acquire key works by the artist.
