This 6 month course is designed to help you to really get to grips with some of the theory and styles of painting, and to give you the confidence and momentum to continue painting at home in the long term.

This course is great for you if:

You missed out on doing art for GCSE or A Level at school, and always wished you had done it!

Would love the space and time to really learn and explore more about art and different styles of painting in more depth.

You have been on one or more of my art classes or courses (although this isn’t essential).

How the course works

We will be focusing on a different artist each month, using this as a way in to looking at a range of different styles and subject matter in painting.

The first part of each class will include a bit of history about the artist we are focusing on, the background to their work and how their style developed. I will then be giving demonstrations on how to recreate the style of this artist. You will spend the morning experimenting with these techniques, and will build up to painting a finished piece or pieces in this style over the course of the day.

At the end of this course you can expect to come away having learned a range of different techniques and ways of painting, with a series of pieces of work in very different styles. You will have learned a lot more about the styles of painting you prefer, and will also see your own style developing as a result.

Month 1 – Skies and landscapes – Van Gogh
Month 2 – Still lives – Cézanne
Month 3 – Abstracted landscapes – Kandinsky
Month 4 – Water, light and reflections – Monet
Month 5 – Portraits – Picasso
Month 6 – Surreal compositions – Dali

Course dates

The course runs once a month, over 6 months, on a Saturday from 10.00am – 4.00pm.

Cost

– £552 (paid as a deposit of £100 and then 5 monthly installments of £90.40)

– £500 if paid in full before the course starts (saving you £52)

The price includes all your materials for the 6 days, refreshments and of course plenty of homemade cake!
