The Tenebrae Effect is Tenebrae’s inspiring choral development initiative that provides an insight into the elements which make Tenebrae’s sound and interpretation to music so unique. It is designed to challenge and advance every participant, whilst giving singers the opportunity to learn in a friendly and challenging environment alongside professional singers from the choir.

Join Nigel Short for what is set to be fascinating and informative morning, focusing on a selection of Victoria’s Tenebrae Responsories. We advise that this workshop would be best enjoyed by those with some prior choral experience. Participants should either be familiar with the scores or be confident sight-readers.

The afternoon will include an open rehearsal with Tenebrae, in which workshop participants will be invited to sing one movement with the choir and to observe the rest of the rehearsal.

Workshop repertoire:

Movement 1: Amicus meus
Movement 3: Unus ex discipulis
Movement 6: Seniores populi
Movement 8: Tenebrae factae sunt (lower voices)
Movement 12: Caligaverunt occuli mei
Movement 14: O vos omnes (upper voices)

Scores are available to look at in advance.

Printed scores will be provided by Tenebrae on the day. Minimum age 16.
