This collection of dances is always the hottest ticket of the Festival. It features: #BlackLivesMatter juxtaposing historical with modern day resistance and protest from a Black perspective asking ‘What have we learnt from the past?’. Working with choreographer Bawren Tavaziva (Tavaziva Dance) the piece fuses dance with the spoken word of Euton Daley creating a pulsing protest-style dance theatre piece.
Critically acclaimed choreographer Richard Chappell's new duet East Coker, matches a score by Samuel Hall of piano, cello and TS Eliot words, with a highly physical combination of classical ballet, martial arts, contemporary dance and improvisation.
KAIHO // the state in between is a collaboration between physical theatre company Justice in Motion and Finnish Tango band Uusikuu. Through contemporary dance and vintage live music, it examines the experiences and parallel cultural
identities of expat women over the past century.
