The perfect class for anyone who wishes to loosen up their style and try new and experimental techniques. We cover a range of subject matters and techniques with a view to helping you discover your own unique style and begin to start seeing yourself as an artist.
All materials for this class are included but you may wish to bring along your own brushes.

All levels of experience are welcome in these structured and lively sessions. Each term follows a different theme and classes are grouped in to 2/3 week projects to allow us to really explore techniques and subject matter.

Students will have the opportunity to develop their own personal style as well as experiment with unfamiliar techniques and practice observational drawing skills.

•Laying washes and wet in wet technique
•Tonal studies and preliminary sketches
•Observational skills
•Linear and aerial perspective
•Sketchbook practice
•Experimental watercolour techniques
•Mark making and brush techniques

Level
This class is suitable for both beginners and more experienced artists

Materials
The Mill provides watercolour paper and paints for these classes. We also have a range of brushes you can use though you may want to invest in your own as the class progresses. Students are encouraged to source a good quality watercolour sketchbook to use and the tutor can advise you on this as the course progresses.

Tutor Profile
Rachel Cronin is an artist who specialises in Mixed Media and Watercolour painting. She has been teaching for 8 years, using watercolour for 15 years and is constantly excited and surprised by the way watercolour works. As well as being a practicing artist and tutor she also runs the Learning and Participation department for The Mill Arts Centre.

Refund Policy
Payment is required when booking. We regret that tickets may not be exchanged or refunded after purchase, except when an event is cancelled. For missed classes through tutor absence we will endeavour to schedule catch up sessions where possible. Partial refunds or credits will not be given.

Disabled access
Regrettably, due to the historic nature of the building, not all classes are accessible by wheelchair. Please contact the box office should you have particular access requirements.

NB Please note that are adult weekly classes are not suitable for anyone under the age of 18
