Listening Room

Some of the best local emerging bands/artists are hand-picked every season for a night of indie, folk-y music in an informal and intimate setting.
So come on in, take a seat (or beanbag), grab a glass of something good and listen away…

This time.......we have.....

Rosetta Fire

Rosetta Fire will be bringing their unique brand of pop melodies, jazz inspired hooks, funk rhythms back to The Listening Room in November.
Their blend of tight harmonies, strong melodies and memorable lyrics with an added pinch of optimism are trademark Rosetta Fire, with each new song showing a flash of creative brilliance from a band with an unorthodox sound.
“jawdropping indie rock goes acoustic” (on Rosetta Fire) “exceptionally talented singer/songwriter” (on Jimmy Lapworth) – Censor Yourself Music

The Epstein

The Epstein are an integral part of the ever burgeoning Oxford roots/Americana scene. The forthcoming Burn The Branches album sees the band depart from the widescreen country/Americana sound of previous album Murmurations (PIAS), and explore harder edged, atmospheric sounds whilst still retaining singer/songwriter Olly Wills’ undeniable knack for great melodic hooks.
Regular touring around Britain and Europe in the last few years has honed this sound as well as the bands live shows and has made them festival favorites at home and abroad.

Jess Hall

Jess Hall grew up near the coastline of North Devon and started writing songs about the quirks of love and life just before moving to the starkly landlocked Oxford seven years ago. Since that time she has established herself on the local scene with her simple stunning clarity of voice and images of coastal love and loss.
“Jess Hall's voice - limpid and elegant, as pure as clear cut crystal, variously playful, pretty and almost hymnal - as wonderous and natural as the Devon beaches that provide so much of her musical inspiration." - Nightshift
"honest lyrics and deceptively simple melodies, have audiences hanging on her every word” - The Oxford Times
