Members of The Cotswolds Art and Antique Dealers’ Association (CADA) are joining together at The Oxfordshire Museum in Woodstock, 22nd September – 16th October 2016 to share their passion for collecting at an exhibition,’ Why Antiques – 100 years of collecting the Cotswolds’.

For over 100 years there have been Antique Dealers in the heart of England helping collectors acquire fine Art and Antiques. The members of CADA are proud to be continuing this tradition and with this Exhibition ‘Why Antiques’ CADA is looking to inspire the next generation and inform the present through the prism of our shared social history – a history in the form of art and antiques.

From the Association Members’ deep pools of knowledge and experience in multiple areas of antique collecting, they have created ‘Why Antiques’ to explain WHY, WHERE and HOW to collect art and antiques in the Cotswolds. From the connoisseur searching for that elusive object, to the first time collector wanting to choose an area in which to specialise, the aim is to help, inform and guide you to your chosen collecting goal.

Visitors will be able to view a selection of furniture, clocks, textiles, glass, ceramics, fine art objects, paintings and watercolours. These objects will all be labelled with their description and date and are collected by theme or by the specialist’s area of expertise. Each participating dealer will highlight a specific area of expertise through fine examples from their own private collections and available inventory; from British Pottery to Fine English Furniture, from Carpets, Textiles and Tribal Weavings to Early Needlework, Samplers and Works of Art, from Glass, Enamels and Treen to Sculpture from the Grand Tour and more - there will be something to capture everyone’s imagination.

Each object displayed will be fully described and there will be a Cotswolds Art and Antique Dealer on hand every day of the exhibition to share their passion and knowledge about art and antiques, and to answer any questions about collecting antiques.
