Red Clay is bringing together a collection of creative practitioners over a 5 week period from Thursday 7 March - Sunday 14 April, including;

- an exhibition of experimental and dynamic artwork

- talks and workshops

- performances

- residencies

This programme of events will be shaped by a range of practitioners who are opening up and highlighting womxn's mental, physical and hormonal health; giving opportunity to have dialogue within the participating practitioners and our audiences alike.

Red Clay supports intergenerational women and queer practitioners. We acknowledge that using the term ‘womxn’ is not as inclusive as it should be - and are searching for better words, and don’t want to exclude anyone. Let’s discuss together.

We want to have a balanced debate and are looking forward to receiving a wide range of proposals; go on, be adventurous and surprise us…

Applications are now open and the deadline is Sunday 28 January 11.59pm

If you are working in this area of research and think that 2025 would be a better fit for you, please do still apply.

Residency proposals

The residency will take place from Thursday 7 March to Sunday 14 April 2024, and is suitable for a range of practitioners; writers, visual artists, curators, performers and researchers and more. As long as your work is centred around womxn's health, we'd like to hear from you.

We may select more than 1 resident creative practitioner.

There are no expected outcomes for this residency, as it is intended to provide time and space to develop work in the area of womxn's health within the Red Clay exhibition.

You will have access to the OVADA warehouse with use of our WiFi and a shared kitchen throughout the week. The exhibition will be open from Thursdays to Sundays each week which will give you the opportunity to engage with fellow practitioners, their work and audience members balanced with quiet days when we are not open to the public.

If selected, a £300 participation fee applies. We are keeping our fees as low as possible, participation fees for this residency will go towards OVADA's building overheads, and event administration and marketing costs.
