Oxford International Song Festival is recruiting a team of Festival Assistants to contribute to the success of this year's Festival.

ABOUT THE FESTIVAL
Oxford International Song Festival was founded in 2002 to celebrate and rejuvenate classical song. The main focus of our activity is the Oxford International Song Festival, which takes place each October. The Festival brings many of the world’s leading singers and pianists to Oxford, as well as showcasing exciting emerging artists and engaging people of all ages and backgrounds in high-quality creative activity. In 2015, the Festival won a prestigious Royal Philharmonic Society Award for Chamber Music and Song, praised for our ‘breadth, depth and audacity of programming.’

This year’s thrilling theme aligns the visual arts with poetry and music in a wide variety of ways. You’ll find colour, fashion, musical manuscripts that are themselves artworks, artist-poets, artist-composers, programmes inspired by artworks, and opportunities to create musically inspired art. We also make our first foray into dance; feature five world premieres, including a song cycle fusing Iranian and European classical styles; welcome an astonishing jazz pianist and a Schubert-inspired band; and much more...

ABOUT THE FESTIVAL ASSISTANT VACANCIES
Our Festival Assistants (FAs) are enthusiastic, dedicated and hard-working individuals who are responsible for the day-to-day running of the Festival. Reporting to the Director of Administration, and working closely with the Oxford Song team, FAs will take on a range of duties covering all aspects of the Festival, including box office support, marketing, artist liaison, concert management, page-turning, and front-of-house. Our FAs play a vital role supporting the work of Oxford Song, and help to ensure the overall success of the Festival.

FA roles are ideally suited to someone looking to gain experience in arts administration and event management - previous FAs have gone on to enjoy successful careers in these areas. Depending on the exact duties assigned, FAs will need to be available full-time (and resident in/near Oxford) from 11-30 October inclusive, with some roles starting as early as 4 September. Depending on the exact role and time commitment involved, FAs are offered a fee of at least £1,200. Please note that due to the intense nature of the Festival, these positions are not suitable for current undergraduate students.
