About Us
Cherwell Theatre Company (CTC) are seeking an experienced project manager with a specialism in outreach and inclusion to join their team in Banbury.
CTC (Registered Charity no 1137145) creates an environment where young people can be themselves, make new friends and feel a real sense of value. We work collaboratively with them to bring their unique qualities and aspirations to life through inclusive community theatre. Our patron is Sir Trevor Nunn who supports us in the belief that “CTC truly provides access for all regardless of background.”
Over 19 years we have delivered 1,000+ weekly sessions, worked with 20+ community organisations, presented 16 accessible family shows, 3 youth festivals and 3 Theatre in Education plays reaching 100,000+ school children across our district.
We provide:
• Weekly drama and visual arts workshops and one-to-one mentorships for ages 5 – 25 both in our open access classes and our community groups taking place in partner settings. We also offer holiday provision that is low cost or free throughout the year.
• Issue-based creative workshop programmes around the issues young people tell us are affecting their lives such as our Enact Healthy Relationships programme and our Park Rangers creative eco project.
• Co-Production of professional performances devised and created with young people, for young people such as our recent Mutineers performance at Tooley’s Boatyard which was written by a member of our regular provision.
• Professional Productions produced in response to pertinent and current issues facing young people such as our production Sam and Zoe Vs Evermore looking at male mental health.
Young people are offered a variety of access points to get involved, whether for a week in the holidays, over a school term or for many years, becoming an embedded part of the company. Roles range from acting to stage management, writing, directing, and many technical theatre roles.

About the Role
The Project Manager will be a key member of the core team at CTC, working hard to bring high quality arts experience to as many young people from diverse backgrounds as possible. They take the delivery lead on a range of projects which will entail;

Staff
• Identifying, recruiting and managing freelance staff for projects.
• Ensure all staff are DBS checked (in collaboration with the Company Administrator)
• Ensure all staff are aware of the Safeguarding policies and expectations of the company and have undergone appropriate training.
• Work with Company Administrator to ensure staff are contracted and have all required scheduling information.

Participants
• Ensure that young people receive a high standard of interaction with the company by attending sessions and liaising with partners and staff
• Ensure young people are safeguarded at all times and that their welfare in paramount.

Partners
• Liaise with existing and new community and schools partners to represent the company.
• Work with partners to monitor project progress.
• Identify potential collaborations or areas for project development with new partners.
• Seek partners to enrich projects and enhance our work from other areas of the voluntary sector.

Fundraising
• To be responsible for monitoring and evaluation of projects they are responsible for.
• To support with fundraising bids as required in collaborations with the Joint CEOs.
• Report to funders on project outcomes, with support from joint CEOs.

Other Duties
• Liaise with local authority officers and community contacts and sponsors.
• Plan and facilitate high quality work with young people.
• Manage volunteer recruitment.

Person specification
We are looking for someone who is ready to take on a challenge! Working at CTC is fast paced and varied. The work enriches young people’s lives through creative exploration. We are seeking someone who wants to use their skills to support that positive change to happen.

• Experience of managing high quality arts projects in communities and schools, with a specalism in inclusion and outreach.
• Demonstrable experience of partnership building across arts and non-arts organisations.
• Excellent project management skills, with the ability to plan and deliver multiple projects at the same time, working without direct supervision and managing own workload.
• A creative problem solver, who keeps calm under pressure and finds workable solutions for all if changes occur.
• Experience acting as Producer of community art works, performances or sharing events in both professional and non-professional venues.
• Demonstrable experience of working closely with artists from a range of art forms, to deliver inclusive programmes of work.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to tailor these to a wide range of audiences.
• A people person with a track record of forming positive partnerships.
• Experience of putting together and managing project and performance budgets effectively.
• Experience of negotiating and writing contracts with artists, individuals, groups and partners.
• Experience of managing freelance artists.
• Experience of writing project aims and contributing to bids and reporting to funders. (desirable)
• A passion for participatory arts and their role in supporting community cohesion across all backgrounds, faiths and cultures.
• Excellent IT skills including Microsoft Office.
• Experience of creating digital and social media content as part of project delivery. (desirable)
• Can demonstrate ambition and drive to help the organisation develop.
