Organisational Relationship and Accountability:

Line managed by: Front of House Manager

Works closely with: FoH Manager, FoH and Volunteer Coordinator, Café Supervisors, Duty Managers. Front
of House Assistants, Head of HR and Operations, Technical Manager, Theatre Technician,
Volunteers, homeless trainees, and colleagues at Crisis, particularly Facilities Manager,
Reception and Café staff.

Manages: None, but will supervise volunteers as and when required

Main duties and responsibilities:
Key purpose
To ensure that all front of house operations in the building run smoothly, with excellent customer
service providing an informed welcome for audiences and customers. To staff spaces across the
building as needed including the café, theatre and reception, upper gallery and box office. To use
our cloud based POS systems to serve in the café/ bar.
Working with colleagues to understand and overcome the challenges around accessibility and
inclusion in public spaces to ensure equal access for everyone.

Main duties and responsibilities
• Selling items from the café and bar at the cafe counter
• Making and preparing drinks in the café. Serving cakes and food from counter.
• Supervision of volunteers when required to do so
• Work closely with the FOH Manager, Café Supervisors and FoH Coordinator to understand cafe offer, gallery
events, and theatre events so that they can be well presented to the public
• Ensure financial systems are kept in order whilst on duty, including cash handling, cashing
up, producing reports where applicable.
• Liaise with the Marketing Manager and FOH Managers to ensure box office and ticket prices
are correct and displays are current.
• Provide excellent customer service to the public
• Ensure high standard of cleanliness throughout the Front of House areas
• Ensuring compliance with licensing and health and safety law and regulation.

• Experience using a coffee machine and working in a café.
• Experience handling and reconciling cash
• Experience using Outlook
• Experience using Events Management Systems
• Experience of Box Office systems
• Experience of working in an Arts environment
• Examples of making improvements to organisational systems
• Examples of working in a small team
• Experience working with vulnerable adults
• Previous café work, retail work or box office work.
• Qualifications in First Aid, Fire Marshal, Health and Safety, Level 2 Food Hygiene and Safety
• An eye for detail and ability to complete tasks
