Creative Learning & Participation

Creative learning and participation are at the heart of Modern Art Oxford’s programme. We offer educational experiences for visitors of all ages, using art and creativity to reach thousands of people from Oxfordshire and beyond every year. Our activities are designed to help visitors explore our exhibitions, experiment with creative processes and celebrate the relevance of contemporary visual culture to society today.

Early Years & Families
Modern Art Oxford is dedicated to providing safe, enjoyable and engaging activities for the whole family. We offer hand-on workshops, a unique engaging space for creative play, activity sheets and more. Established in 2017, Make Play is one of the core strands of our programmes for early years and families. It provides a self-centred creative space for babies and children to explore, play and learn in a safe and stimulating environment. Our activities for early years encourage creative collaboration between parents and babies to learn together in a responsive space that changes through interaction and play. This participative and holistic approach to learning is guided by the developmental principles that support positive relationships and nurture creative, confident and independent individuals. At Make Play, children are recognised, respected and celebrated as active agents of change with relevant and critical contributions to make in our shared society.
