Chipping Norton Theatre is a restlessly busy and ambitious theatre and arts centre in the Cotswolds. Welcoming over 50,000 people every year in a town of little over 7,000, The Theatre delivers a year-round programme of theatre, comedy, music, film and participatory activities for audiences across the region. More recently, we have grown as a producing house, creating three major productions each year and growing a stronger and more loyal audience as a result. Some of these shows have toured the UK and transferred to other theatres.

The Theatre sits at the heart of its community and is an important part of many people’s lives. It is run by a small team of around 12 permanent staff, with support from casuals and volunteers. The Theatre has continued as many activities as possible during the last 16 months including most Take Part activities, a full weekend cinema programme whenever possible, a month-long in house produced Christmas show, and a season of al fresco cinema and live events this summer. The team have worked tirelessly and loyally throughout the current pandemic and are looking ahead now to a full year ahead.

The Administrator role sits in an admin team of a General Manager, Arts Administrator and Finance Assistant. The administration of The Theatre provides really vital support to specific departments, but also in logistically holding the building together. The role covers a diverse amount of tasks and focuses on anything that makes the life at The Theatre smoother and easier for the team. It would suit someone very organised and efficient, who also enjoys solving problems and looking after their colleagues.

The Theatre team are friendly and supportive, and The Theatre is always keen to invest in its staff and their futures. We have a book club and lunchtime staff screenings, and sometimes screen large sporting events for staff in the auditorium. We have a dog day once a week, staff look after our small back garden and we like to have a big BBQ in the summer months. We meet regularly to discuss mental health as group and strive to make The Theatre an enjoyable place to work for all.

The job is diverse, and demands the usual degree of flexibility, a high level of multi-tasking, organisation and lots of energy! We are looking for someone quick thinking and energetic, with an interest in the arts world. We would be just as happy to hear from those starting out in their careers as well as those with prior experience. We often find this role is an excellent starting point to develop career paths into the industry and we encourage the job holder’s interests to come to the forefront.
