PROJECT ARTISTS OPEN CALL:
North Oxon Cultural Education Partnership (NOxCEP) is looking for at least 2 artists, individuals or organisations with excellent skills and experience delivering arts and cultural education for young people in response to curriculum needs. Any artform response is invited animation, film, story, song, dance, theatre or visual arts project to be delivered in 8 Banbury Primary Schools.

BACKGROUND and AIMS
With investment from Artswork and funding from Cherwell District Council, the overall aim of the Better Lives Through Culture project is to support young people to improve their mental health and wellbeing. We hope this programme will enable children to experience increased participation and connection with art and artists whilst building confidence and leadership skills by taking part in Arts Award.

Teachers have told us various areas they wish to develop and BLTC programmes seek to:
• Promote young people’s active participation and response to artwork
• Offer direct experience of artists and their work in line with any covid restrictions
• Develop creative activities and approaches in delivering the curriculum
• Expand accessibility and the range of art forms on offer in schools
• Encourage children’s vocabulary and confidence in expression
• Offer schools to develop an extended experience in a variety of artforms through working with local arts organisations
• Inspire young people to develop confidence, resilience and support positive mental health

WE WOULD LIKE ARTISTS/ARTS ORGANISATIONS TO :

1. Plan, manage and deliver a creative project with young people in a school setting
2. Use as a starting point for the project either:
• A curriculum led topic to be selected by a teacher
• The Settlement Sculptures Public Artwork by Diane Gorvin and Phil Bews
3. Devise the framework of the project with the school arts leads to enable an Arts Award process to take place at Explore/Discover level.
4. Contribute to, support and attend a celebratory event at the culmination of the project.
5. Embed the project’s evaluation process into the planning and record evidence of workshops (i.e photographs / film with permission) as required.
6. Adhere to all safeguarding policies, equality and diversity policies, and commit to a practice that encourages equality, diversity and inclusion.
