Delivered in partnership with Magdalen College School, Oxford, our Resident Director will undertake a wide variety of duties across both organisations. An opportunity ideal for a talented and ambitious early-career theatre maker, the post holder will gain experience of professional theatre and facilitation through a variety of school productions, outreach programmes and extra-curricular opportunities, with opportunities for mentoring, training and shadowing from Oxford Playhouse.

The Resident Director will work closely across the year with students of all ages at Magdalen College School, leading the weekly Theatre Academy sessions, devising and delivering a broad range of skills development workshops, as well as directing at least three of the school’s productions over the year. The Resident Director will usually take a school production, with a Sixth Form cast, to the Edinburgh Fringe during August.

The post holder will also work as Assistant Director to Steve Marmion on Oxford Playhouse’s pantomime, Robin Hood, with specific responsibility for preparing the Young Company. Further opportunities include leading and supporting the planning and delivery of weekly Youth Theatre skills sessions at the Playhouse, as well as providing both administrative and dramaturgical support to the Playhouse Playmaker artist development scheme, for professional writers.
