Director Wanted - November 2020

Salary / Fee:
N/A
Closing Date:

The OTG committee is exploring the idea of staging a small scale project in a studio theatre (week commencing 2nd November). We are therefore inviting expressions of interest from potential directors who have a project in mind.

There are some criteria that we would ask people to have in mind when considering titles:

1 – Limited cast size – maximum of 3 cast members
2 – Limited run time – no longer than 60 minutes (and no shorter than 40 minutes)
3 – Limited set/props/costume demands

Another thing to think about is how you would audition/rehearse in a socially distant way and how social distancing would be maintained in performance/backstage.

We are open to new writing/devised work as well as existing texts – though, of course, we would ask that the writer of the script not be the director on the project.

It is also worth noting that we are not committed to a traditional run of 6/7 performances. We are open to alternative ideas – such as 2 performances per evening, a shorter run or some new configuration. Feel free to suggest your preferred option(s).

There is huge potential to find a really exciting project that would draw audiences back to the theatre – so please be bold and imaginative.

Timescale:

Expressions of Interest – to pitches@oxfordtheatreguild.com by 6pm on Wednesday 22nd July
Interviews will be scheduled at the end of July/early August
Auditions – Early September
Rehearsals – End of September/October
Performances – Week commencing 2nd November

Please note: We cannot guarantee that performances in a theatre will be possible in November and we may not know this by the time of the auditions. If it should prove not to be possible to use a theatre space in November, we will explore other options including recording the performance for broadcast, or postponing to another date.
