2. Comply with your charity’s governing document and the law
3. Act in your charity’s best interests

5. Act with reasonable care and skill
6. Ensure your charity is accountable

All Trustees of the Rollright Trust are expected to attend a majority of Board meetings, which are held every 8-12 weeks, and the AGM which is usually in mid-May. Meetings usually last around 2 hours.
The Trust’s financial and reporting year runs from 1st December to 30th November. The Chair, Secretary and Treasurer manage the day to day business and communications of the Trust, with support from other Trustees as appropriate. The subscription membership group ‘The Friends of the Rollright Stones’ is administered by one of the Trustees, currently the Treasurer. All Trustees are encouraged to participate as much as possible to share the load as there are no paid staff.
Each individual Trustee is expected to bring their personal specialisation, interest area or experience to bear in promoting the Trust’s purposes, alongside participating in the general business of the Trust. This may include for example, helping with events organised at the Stones or elsewhere, supporting the public in accessing and understanding the Stones, whilst preserving them and their environment, giving talks based on any relevant specialism, representing the Trust where appropriate and agreed by the Board.

New Trustee recruitment
There are currently 7 Trustees with interest areas in archaeology, ecology and environment, astronomy, local community resources, earth legends, charity management, of whom three take on formal Officers’ roles (Chair, Secretary, Treasurer), and others have roles leading other aspects of the Trust’s work. Heritage, megalithic archaeology, community engagement and education, young people’s participation, ecology and conservation.
We are looking for candidates who:
- bring ideas, organisational management abilities, commitment,
- live close enough to the Rollright Stones to be able to attend meetings and events relatively easily and
- may be prepared in due course to take on a particular role in the Trust’s duties
