The Theatre Chipping Norton is looking for a General Manager for Maternity Cover from mid Oct onwards.

The Theatre is restlessly busy and ambitious, based in the Cotswolds. Bringing over 50,000 people every year to this small town, The Theatre delivers a year-round programme of theatre, comedy, music, film and classes for audiences across the region. More recently, we have grown as a producing and touring house, creating three major productions each year.

The Theatre, sited in a Victorian former Salvation Army Citadel, is a charming and warm environment for this wide range of activities. In addition to the main 200+ seat auditorium, we have a range of workshop and rehearsal spaces and a gallery. The Theatre has a staff of 17, and over 100 casuals and volunteers.

The position reports to the Theatre’s Director and Board, who collectively take responsibility for leadership and The Theatre’s future direction, and sits within a Senior Management team of three. There are three roles in direct support of the position: an external Accounts firm who are involved in preparing the quarterly accounts, a Finance Assistant (4 days a week) and an Administrator (2.5 days a week).

Candidates should, in particular, have the appropriate level of skills and experience to take responsibility for the financial reporting and accountability of an organisation with a £1.2m turnover. We currently use SAGE Line 50 accounts software, which is operated by the Finance Assistant. Training will be provided on reporting and the tasks likely to arise. The role also holds HR responsibility for the building.

We are a friendly and welcoming, continuously creative and passionate team that are looking for the right character to become a new part of it. We would welcome applications from those with or without specific experience of the arts.

Salary: £32,403.24 pa
Contract: Fixed term, full time position with 20 days holiday, offered on an initial 10 month contract.
Start Date: A hand over with the existing post-holder is planned from mid October onwards. The full time position may start any time from then and by the latest at the start of November.
