West Oxfordshire District Council is seeking a skilled and experienced artist with a strong track record and experience in delivering and coordinating workshops, especially arts interventions with individuals and small groups with health needs in Witney. Artists will need participatory expertise in a particular artform.
The purpose of this new opportunity is to introduce regular creative interventions at the Community Hospital with the intention of enhancing the patient and carer experience and sense of wellbeing. It is funded from developer contributions in support of art in a public context.
Based in the hospital, the appointed artist will possess excellent communication and organisational skills, be self-motivated and have a desire and ability to inspire people to engage in creative experiences as a way of increasing their sense of wellbeing. The coordinator will need to be able to work collaboratively and with sensitivity with patients, carers and health care staff. They will be required to lead creative sessions and also arrange for visits by other skilled creative practitioners.
This is a freelance fixed term contract of 50 weeks at 15 hours a week. The fee is £10,135. A budget for materials and equipment is available plus travel expenses while at work. It is essential that applicants have Enhanced DBS clearance and public liability insurance. The role starts in January 2017.
