The John Radcliffe Hospital and Churchill Hospital are looking for professional musicians to support an ongoing music programme at the hospitals. We are looking for musicians to play short (20 min concerts) to groups of patients in wards across the hospitals. Musicians will be escorted by a trained volunteer and visit at least four wards during an afternoon session.

The aim of the concerts is to provide an uplifting atmosphere, distraction and entertainment to the wards. Patients, staff and visitors often join in by requesting songs or dancing and the interaction between the musician and the patient is just as important as what they play. Musicians must be sensitive to the needs of the hospital staff and patients.

Instruments must be portable as there are many stairs, lifts and corridors to negotiate plus limited space on the wards to set up.
