Susie Crow trained in Oxford with Beryl Jackson and June Christian, and at the Royal Ballet Upper School. She danced for 12 years with the Royal Ballet and Sadler’s Wells Royal Ballet, becoming a soloist, and is now an independent choreographer and teacher based in Oxford working with professionals, students and adult learners under the name of Ballet in Small Spaces. She has made ballets for Sadler's Wells Royal Ballet, Dance Advance, National Youth Dance and National Youth Ballet among others, and has twice been a finalist in the Madrid Choreographic Competition. Recent work includes the full length narrative Black Maria made in 2007 in collaboration with composer Tom Armstrong and film maker Zara Waldeback, and curating a second edition of the successful Solos Project at the Burton Taylor Studio. She has an MA in Dance Studies from University of Surrey and a Certificate of Teaching and Learning in Higher and Professional Education from the Institute of Education. She works in partnership with Jennifer Jackson on Ballet Independents' Group projects including choreographic courses and research, and the BIG Discussion Forum.
