Oxford’s new-writing night: watch rehearsed readings of two brand new plays, curated by John Retallack.

Each script is brought to life by a cast of professional actors.

This evening’s schedule:

My Name Is Sandra by Andrea Orton (30mins)

INTERVAL – discussion and networking.

Fan/dom by Edward Rowett (1 hour)

New writing is precarious in the current climate, and we are thrilled to support emerging artists with staged play readings. Join us for a night of great theatre, by two outstanding up-and-coming playwrights. We can’t wait.

My Name Is Sandra
By Andrea Orton

“I want people to really miss me. Is that weird?”

Angela and Sandra hated each other at school. Now, Sandra is a patient on Angela’s oncology ward.

My Name Is Sandra explores jealousy, friendship and how we can change in the face of adversity

Andrea Orton is a new writer from Liverpool. She has spent the last 30 years working as a nurse and a psychotherapist. Her plays tell stories from these experiences. My Name is Sandra is her first staged play.

Fan/dom
By Edward Rowett

Jim is a comedian. Tash is a fan. One night he comes home to find she has broken into his flat. Jim just wants to get rid of her; Tash just wants to talk.

Fan/dom is a play about the people we look up to, and how they look back at us.

Edward Rowett has written for television and radio, where his credits include the sitcom Reluctant Persuaders. Fan/dom is his first full length play.
