Contract type: Maternity Cover of Fixed Term contract – with an anticipated return of January 2020

This is a post funded by Oxford City Council as part of the Rough Sleeping Initiative (RSI) and managed by Crisis Skylight Oxford. The Rough Sleeping Initiative funding has been made available on a targeted basis by the Ministry for Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG), to prevent and reduce rough sleeping.

The post holder will operate from the rough sleeping hub currently based at New Road Baptist Church in Oxford City Centre. Funding is initially available for this role until 31st March 2020, with a possibility of this being extended. However as this is maternity cover it is anticipated that the current post holder may return in January 2020. Other services offering support and engagement at the hub include Oxford City Council, St Mungo’s Street Outreach Team, Aspire and Turning Point.

The post holder will need to take a flexible and independent approach to establishing high quality ‘drop-in’ visual arts activities within a new multi service rough sleeping provision. They will also be expected to undertake other work commensurate with their role, providing it falls within the hours they are contracted to provide a service for. This may include but is not limited to; providing staffing support to the reception service at the hub, assisting in the management of anti-social behaviour and undertaking other reasonable duties within the service according to a rota.

Aim and influence
• To plan, organise and deliver visual arts activities to people that are sleeping rough and accessing the new Oxford City Centre Rough Sleeping Hub
• Develop the confidence, self-esteem and creative skills of homeless individuals by engaging them in ‘drop-in’ small group/individual art activities when they access the Rough Sleeping Hub.
• Encourage the accessing of services to help end their homelessness.
Financial and supervisory responsibility
• There is no line management responsibility in this role
• There is no budget or other financial responsibility in this role.
