'RIVIERA', an exhibition of oil paintings from the French Riviera, depicting light, warmth and colour

Deirdre Nicholls; Portrait Sculptor and Landscape Painter

This 2019 Oxford exhibition stems from a 3-month residency in Villefranche-sur-Mer on the French Riviera, where the light and warmth had similarly influenced the great Scottish Colourist at the turn of the last century.
Born in Edinburgh, Deirdre trained at Liverpool and Winchester schools of art in the 1970’s and was a winner (1975) of the renowned Northern Young Contemporaries Prize hosted by Manchester’s Whitworth Gallery. Her most notable work is a large bronze bust of Nelson Mandela in Glasgow's City Chambers
