Politician and academic, Williams was one of the Gang of Four who founded the SDP in 1981. Leader of the Liberal Democrats in the Lords from 2001 to 2004, she was made Companion of Honour for services to political and public life. Williams will speak about the rise of women in politics, the present conservative climate and the role of young people in creating change.
