I am an artist painting mostly in watercolour. I first exhibited my paintings at the Nottingham Castle Open Exhibition shortly after becoming a member of the Nottingham Society of Artists. Later I moved to West Oxfordshire and where I was able to devote more time to painting. I became a member of West Ox Arts or The West Oxfordshire Arts Association, as it was then known and later became a member of the Oxford Art Society and am currently their Chairman. I have exhibited extensively, both in one man and group shows. Groups include Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolour, Royal Institute Of Oil Painters, and The Royal West of England Academy.
Much of my early work came from visits to France, in particular Menton and the Alps Maritime. I found in that part of France that the colour, light and the old buildings were a great source of inspiration to me, as did many other artists before me. I also enjoy painting in wilder places such as Pembrokeshire or Dungeness where the rugged landscape has inspired many paintings. More recently I have found inspiration in Southern Italy and Sicily. My great interest though has always been in old buildings.
